I have been struggling setting up the TV Service with my SkyStar 2 DVB card for weeks now. I seem to go from one error straight into another and searches are not getting me anywhere.
During my MediaPortal woes, I have downloaded and installed at least 5 other DVB applications (i.e. DVB Dream, MyTheather, ProgDVB, etc). I have been able to get each one working properly with clean channel scans, EPG and Emunation withing 30-60 minutes, yet I cannot get a clean channel scan with the TV Server, and descent EPG and most of the time I get the message "Unable to start timeshifting" with another message "channel is scrambled", "Unknown error occured" or "no free card." This would be a good time to mention that I am not submitting my issues for help, this was just my preamble into my suggestion.
Instead of writing the TV Service code from scratch, did the development team consider implemented portions of tryed and true software such as DVB Dream? Is is feasible to acquire (through some partnership agreement) the core functionality from DVB Dream (or another product) and wrap it with the MediaPortal interface?
Just a thought, but the current setup isn't working for me or many others from what my searches are telling me.
