I often copy TV recordings from my HTPC to my Archos 70 media player, but need to convert them to an Archos-compatible format before I can play them (the MPEG plug-in for the Archos is a chargeable plugin). Is there any way that I can configure Mediaportal (v1.2) to use an alternative format when it saves recorded TV? (i.e. one that is compatible with the Archos)

All DVB programs are saving TV streams as they are broadcasted. Absolutely no coding is done so no way to change the used format at all. Only your TV Station could change this but they surely won't do. TV Tuners simply "copy" the stream from Air to HDD, that's all..
