Hi folks,

I'm trying to find a windows based DLNA service, so I can watch mkv's on my Samsung TV, apple iPad/iPhone and other DLNA compatible software.

Can MediaPortal do this? Can it run as a DLNA service on a Windows 2008 r2 OS?

AW: Can I use MediaPortal on Windows Server 2008 R2?

it can run on w2k8 r2 with installed bda drivers, but i can't function as a dlna service.
with a little configuration the ps3 media server works really fine with my samsung C630/C650 and a lot of other dlna compatible devices.
i had the test version of mezzmo running which just worked out of the box for my samsung but i wanted to save money so i used ps3 media server..

Have a look at the very bottom of this thread, there are links to similar threads about Server 2008 R2, yes it can be installed, and there are guys that will help if you have problems.

As for DLNA, as JoeSmith said, MP doesn't do DLNA.
