hi all newbie here.
been trying for weeks to get my HTPC setup the way i want and just discovered Merdiaportal as i have been using MediaBrowser without much success
before i delve too deeply into this program would someone enlighten me as to whether it will be capable of doing the following?

1: load PowerDVD/TMT to play ripped dvd's then exit back to Mediaportal
2: do the same with AVI's
3: allow music files to be played via spdif using Wasapi either in house or with an external player again?

thanks

Yes, you can use the multishortcut plugin to run any programme, including an external player, or if you are using using Moving Pictures, then you can set an external player for movie files (also the basic MP config can be set to use an external player). However, I am not sure why you would want to. MP can play ripped DVDs natively including mounting ISOs if required.

Yes, see number 1 above, but once again, I am not sure why you would want to?

I don't know about this one. You can definitely play music over SPDIF, but I don't think you can use WASAPI natively. If you are using an external player though, you can just execute the player programme from the MP home menu using multishortcut. See this thread for some minor discussion on WASAPI: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/asio-music-player-245/wasapi-exclusive-mode-91486/

hi and thanks for the fast replys

the reason i want to use Powerdvd or TMT is to utilize their up-scaling and post processing capabilities. i tried MPC but settled on PDVD for bluray and sd upscaling and TMT for Avi's to use some denoise and sharpening. i managed to get pdvd to load through the standard MP player but have not worked out how to exit it back to MP. also tried setting 'Autofrequency' as external player and that in turns loads PDVD but movie fails to start
have not tried moving pictures yet
really excited about this programme but having great difficulties in getting started
cant load moving pictures as says i need version 1.2 which i did upgrade too
cant get tvcard to find any channels

regarding wasapi then if an external player could be used along with 'reclock' that should give wasapi

looking like this program is capable of just about everything but as a newbie its a bit daunting :)

Correct me guys if i'm wrong, but you can use the cyberlink codec as a postprocess filter ;) so you can achieve the features with the mepo-player

that would be great but how would you adjust the setting without actually loading Powerdvd?

Open MePo Configuration, go to Videos (or TV, doesn't matter), Post Processing. Look for a CyberLink/PowerDVD upscaling/denoise filter, double click it and open the configuration. I can't tell you for sure that it will work since I don't have PowerDVD installed.

No need to. If you store your rips like this
    • movies (folder)
      • Megamind (folder
        • folder.jpg (cover image)
        • VIDEO_TS
        • AUDIO_TS
Then you will see a nice cover art + MP directly loads your DVD Rip once you select that "Megamind" folder.

2: do the same with AVI's
    Why do you want that?
PowerDVD/TMT does not support all the major codecs/containers. It will not integrate smoothly into the MP gui, even the remote might not work at all / or at least differently in both apps.

PostProcessing can be done by using the options provided in MP Configuration.

3: allow music files to be played via spdif using Wasapi either in house or with an external player again?
our inbuilt BASS player can do that.
