With my tax return I went out and got a whole new media setup, it rocks.

Olevia 537H 37" Flat panel LCD TV
Onkyo HT-SR800 Stereo
I also have a Dish Network reciever
I've already been using media portal with great success.

My problem? NONE of my remotes will learn ANY of the other remotes commands.
I now have 4 remotes.
Dish Remote
TV remote
Stereo remote
Windows MCE remote

My wife's pissed.

I tried a fancy universal remote with an LCD screen and everything. NONE of my components are listed in the code lists. It will not learn any of my devices at all. Fail every time. I have all the lights off in the house.

I installed the IR Server suite, rebooted. Went to the plugin in media portal setup and tried to learn the commands there. It will learn them successfully, but blasting doesn't work. The bud lights up but the TV and/or Stereo stay on.

I created a macro and repeated the blast several times. Didn't work.
I tried learning the code in IR File tool... no good.
I tried copying the code several times in the tool and blasting it... no good.

I'm attaching the un-modified *.IR files I learned using the file tool... Can anyone help?

I tried just using the MCE replacement plugin and got the error "Failed to register for MCE remote button presses"

Anyone think this is related?

    Can you post your IR Server Suite Logs?

    That message MCE Replacement Plugin is giving tells me that the access to the IR device is failing.

    With the log files I might be able to see why.

    Cheers,

    Here are the logs. I removed the replacement plugin and now it won't even learn. It just says "Failed to learn" immediately.

    OK, I can see from the logs that there is a problem locating the IR Server plugins (these are the plugins inside the IR Server Suite that allow access to IR devices).

    Is there anything special about your setup? Is your Program Files folder not in C:, that sort of thing...

    What I need you to do is uninstall IR Server Suite and re-install 1.0.4.2 Preview 3... take careful note of the paths it uses when it installs.

    Then check the Program Files\IR Server Suite\IR Server Plugins folder and make sure there are a bunch of dll files in there. Then check the registry keys here:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IR Server Suite

    There should be at least 1, maybe 3 (depending on what you install)...

    They should look like this:
    Install_Dir="C:\Program Files\IR Server Suite"
    MediaPortal_Dir="C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal"
    TVServer_Dir="C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server"

    Check that the Install_Dir key lists the correct folder.

    I've only ever seen the problem you are having once before, and I don't know what's causing it for a small number of people... But I can only guess that it is different folder locations than expected... or maybe security settings related...

    Can you tell me a bit more about the setup? Is it XP or Vista? English version?

    We'll get this sorted out ...

    Thanks,

    Not that I know of.

    ok, I uninstalled the IR server suite and the replacement plugin. I deleted all folders assosiated with them including the stuff in Documents and Settings. Then I reinstalled only the server suite (preview 3)

    When trying to learn it immediately says "Failed to learn"
    The remote DOES work inside media portal.
    The debug tool says "Not setup for learning" and "Not setup for Blasting" when I try and use it.

    Install_Dir="C:\Program Files\IR Server Suite"
    MediaPortal_Dir="C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal"
    TVServer_Dir="C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server"

    Check that the Install_Dir key lists the correct folder.

    I have all 3, they all say exactly what you typed there... and it is the correct directory

    Can you tell me a bit more about the setup? Is it XP or Vista? English version?
    Windows XP Pro English

    I've attached the log file again, along with an install log I copied out of the installer.
    :D

    Oh wait... I'm on to something... I just checked my event viewer and found this error:

    Event Type: Error

    Looks like some sort of IRQ problem?

    I do not, btw, have 14 PCI slots.... lol

    Bah, Slot 14 is a firewire port... that Im not even using. So I don't think it's related.

    ok,

    Everything looks perfect in the install log, but the Input Service is not loading any input plugins...

    In this log it looks like it didn't detect any, but it could be the same error as before ...

    Are you running in an administrator privileged account?

    I'll add some more logging / error checking around that section of code and post a test copy here for you to try.

    I really appreciate your help so far, and I'm sure we'll get this bug sorted out real soon.

    By the way, thanks for including the Install log. I will try to change the installer to put that in the log folder so I get it from other people in the future, it's helpful in situations like this.

    Oh and the error with PCI Slot 14 has nothing to do with me :)

    Thanks,
