Can the MCE remote wake the HTPC from sleep/hibernation? (1 Viewer)

Is there any way to use the remote to wake the computer from sleep/hibernation. It does not seem to work out of the box, and my guess is that this is becuase the computer shuts down the USB ports when it goes down. Correct?

Is there any way to work around this? I know the Imon remote has this function, so it has got to be possible somehow?

You need to read the motherboard manual to get +5vstb working, this may involve moving a jumper and possibly a BIOS setting.

Also there may only be power going out to the first 2 usb ports, usually 0 and 1, so check you are using one of those for your receiver.

Yup that worked, all I had to do was to move some jumpers and it was working.

I wonder what you have done, as I cant get it to work.

I have an abit fatal1ty I90HD Mobo,

In the Abit Bios:
Set Powermanagement to S3
Enabled the USB to wake up from S3
USB controller set to BIOS.

None the less the MCE remote does not respond (as well as my wireless keyboard and wireless mouse), also I do not see the red LED flash in the IR receiver when I push a button on the remote.

The wireless desktop receiver (Logitech, not bluetooth or IR, but some Radio) does flash while the PC is off(in S3 hibernate), when I push the red CONNECT button at the bottom of the mouse or the wireless keyboard. Should it get better when I swap these two UDB devices?

I remember that under XP I could wake up the PC using the mouse or the keyboard.

I read the Abit manual, but is not really clear about this, hower it has a warning that wake up by Mouse or Keyboard does not work with USB or serial devices, only for P/S2.

Well all I did was to move the 4 jumpers on the motherboard (one for each USB port) and then enable it in the BIOS and it worked.

It could be that your motherboard doesn't support it, but that makes it kinda weird that they have the setting in the BIOS, but then again they could've just "forgotten" or rather not bothered to remove it.

If it blinks when you push a button that should mean it recieves the signal and has the power.
