Cannot get EVR or DXVA in Mediaportal (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I have just installed Mediaportal and have set MPC-HC as the external video and DVD player. When playing back a video through Mediaportal using MPC it notice that it does not use EVR. Also, in MPC I go to view > options > playback > output and notice that EVR does not even appear as an option and the video has defaulted to Null or Overlay mixer. I also notice that my HD content does not have DXVA enabled.

The funny thing is if I access MPC outside Mediaportal, then everything is fine, ie using EVR and DXVA for HD content so therefore, it must be something I am doing wrong in Mediaportal.

By the way, what I have already done is:
- Registered MPC codec for DXVA.
- Selected EVR mode on Mediaportal confirguration screen.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

You need Vista + Aero theme enabled for EVR to work correctly.

Also with my nvidia card, I get high cpu using the MPC-HC player (45-50%), which I so far have not found a workaround for, but the same codec playing the same file within MP runs at 20-30%

PowerDVD h.264 on the other hand runs at 12-17%

Thanks for your reply. I switched to Aero mode but to no avail. Everytime I play a video in Mediaportal (via MPC) Windows tells me that the "color scheme has been changed to Windows basic" .

I take it there is some conflict or setting within Mediaportal and Windows disables Aero Mode. Like I said if I use MPC outside of Mediaportal, everything is fine.

Why not make the process more simple by integrating the MPC-HC sub engine into MP (here - https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...48/integration-mpc-hc-subtitles-engine-54130/ or use disaster's release of MP here https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...k-share-monitoring-new-schedule-option-48181/ which already has it done), downloading the standalone MPC-HC filter and registering it in Windows, selecting it as the filter option for your video files within mediaportal's config, and use the in-house MP player instead of an external one?

I had a similar issue when I first tried using MP, and ended up doing the above which works fine. Using the in-house player resolves so many other issues too...

Great Idea. I have installed disaster's release but cant seem to playback .mkv files - it says it cannot recognise the file. I have already registered the MPC codec in Windows.

    Any suggestions ?

Make sure you have Haali media splitter installed and make sure you have the MPC-HC filter selected as your video filter in MP config settings (under video player settings). You may also need to configure the MPC-HC filter itself to enable it to process all video file types.
