Cannot get TV signal at all (1 Viewer)

Newcomer to the product, long time Media Center user.

No matter what I do I cannot get tv signal through any tuner in Media Portal. I have been reading the forums all day and have not come across anyone else with this problem; in fact most posts say that they install MP and it finds channels immediately on auto tune.

I have now loaded MP on both vista and XP and I have a Haupage 500 MCE (Dual Tuner) and an ATI Wonder 650 loaded and all three tuners work fine in Media Center and SageTV.

I have an account for xmltv and imported my channels as well and nothing comes through. I have read some people had problems with timeshifting, but that does me no good ethir.

As listed in my profile, I am running an Asus Board, Intel P4 3GHz Proc, Realtek sound, 1 Gig RAM, lastest Version of MP availible today (as it has been wiped and reloaded about a dozen times now)

Cyberlink DVD loaded on the machine (as previously stated Media Center runs fine)

I really like the concept of Media Portal and I am hoping that I am missing something simple. Can someone please advise me on this?

This is a pretty busy forum... can nobody tell me what hardware they got working out of the box? Sucess with the 550 card of the ATI 650? Both are very common cards in the HTPC world, I can't imagine nobody else has seen this ever.

Should I have posted this in the support forum instead of the newcomer forum?

I was swapping things around at the weekend and found plugging a 12v power adapter into the multi socket extension lead located close behind the HTPC knocked out the Freeview signal to the HTPC. It could be worth checking if you have any power adapters close to yr machine that may be effecting the TV tuner card or aerial lead?
