Cannot install MP! Help! (1 Viewer)

Hi all,I cannot install MP,everytime i try a little warning windows pops up saying that i don't have sp2 installed(i'm using XP)but i actually do have sp2 I even tried to down load sp3 still no go. i don't know if this could be the problem but i did change my windows xp key but that was before i installed MP. any help would be much appreciated

Was it the general Windows SP it was complaining about? There are other service packs required.. e.g. .Net SP.

have a look at GeneralRequirements - MediaPortal Manual Documentation

If you install each of these it should remove and install errors you're getting!

i got it,it was .net framework sp2. thanks

Like djdarrin91 I've had problems installing MP. The "one click" installer asks for download and install of lots of stuff (Visual C runtimes etc) from Microsoft, which is OK until it gets to SQL 2005 when the install process results in a system restart (without any warning).

After restarting several times, there's a 'MediaPortal' icon on the desktop. Clicking on that results in a "blue screen of death".

Hmm. Doesn't leave a good impression.

I have never heard of such an behaviour.

Your windows eventlog should reveal what caused the crash of the entire OS.
