Hi all, i'm tryng to instal MP 1.0.0.0RC1 on my pc but when installing SQL Express i've got this error:

"The Windows Installer service cannot update the system file C:\WINDOWS\system32\msxml6r.dll because the file is protected by Windows. You may need to update your operating system for this program to work correctly. "

Searching over internet i've found that happens when installing SQL over a non english XP SP3. The fantastic solution of MSFT is to downgrade from SP3 to SP2, install SQL and reupgrade to SP3 .. WOW .. i've got a slipsteamed XP SP3 installed ( https://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=3267649&SiteID=1 ) .

So that now "one click" installation doesn't work for non english XP SP3 installations.

How about using MySQL instead, if you do not want to go down the other route, not a fix (only M$ can do that), but at least a solution.

I've installed SQL Express in my xp language and now is working, but i've got to do it manually, if someone would like to use "one click" installation and ins't using eng xp sp3 cannot do it. So that mp installer has to be changed to download and install an appropriate SQL Express localized version or MySQL.

    Reading the post you linked:

"In your specific case (at least Zosimo's case) the issue is related to installing a different language of SQL than the OS you have. "

    and

"The error occured when trying to install msxml6 sp1/MSSQL2005 Express SP2 english version onto a german Windows XP SP3. So it is the same case as Zosimos"

Our install *should* download the correct language installation file for SQL based on your Regional Settings. So please verify that the regional settings matches the OS language.

Or switch to MySQL as PD suggested. Be aware that you cannot use one-click install with MySQL.

    cigolo,

are you sure that all regional settings are setted to Italy/Italian ?
I have a XP SP3 italian here and DeployTool works as expected, SQLEXPR32_ITA.exe is downloaded...
