I have built a clean system, loaded with latest drivers and installed 1.1.0 RC1.
It worked fine, so I replaced my prod system with this. Not quite sure what has gone wrong, but the following happens:

Media Portal Client: I get the error "Cannot Play File: [random hex]".
When I enter the settings section, I cannot edit the video codec.

Configuration: I cannot load this - it freezes on the splash screen. The last log entry is "add Video codec section"

Just uninstalled MP and reinstalled. Same issue.

Help!

Can you please try with a clean database or at least without TvPlugin.dll in place ?

    I'll try that tonight:

when you say "clean database", what is the easiest way of cleaning it out (e.g. is there a script, or do I drop all of the tables and then reinstall MP)?

"without TvPlugin.dll" - would renaming this do the job, or do I need to do anything more?

    1) you can drop the DB and then start "TV Server configuration" from desktop: it will take care of creating the db.

    2) just move it out of the Team MediaPortal dir and subdirs.

    Simone,

Just thinking through what I'm doing here - the problem is occuring on the TV Client, not the TV Server (appologies, I should have made that clearer). As such, there is no database to drop on the client?

I found the TvPlugin.dll, and tried it without it, but no change to the problem.

Can I have complete logs when you try to start configuration.exe without tvplugin ?

OK, I've half solved it (Config no longer freezes) but I cannot play anything. Still the same "Cannot play file: [random hex]"

I've done a complete uninstall from both TV Client and TV Server, removing all config files, dropping the database as well.
I then loaded back in my TV channels and schedules backup.

    Then tested.

    Logs attached.

error code means access denied. Does VLC works if you point to the url ? Take care that url change everytime, check in streamserver.log the current one.

That's pointed me in the right direction - I'd moved my timeshifting folder and not given the MP account access to it. Odd that the timeshifting problem stopped me playing recorded TV, but there we have it. Thanks! Oh, the joys of error codes.
