I am setting up MP 1.2.2, I'm loosly following the instructions at https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/newcomers-forum-240/mediaportal-install-guide-49685/ but I see they're old and I'm not sure if they're still all relevant.

I skipped the things in Step 2, I had AC3Filter installed already. Do I need to do these things? I have 1 HDMI cable running from my GT 240to the Yamaha RX-V471 receiver for both video and audio.

When I try to play an .mkv video with in MP 1.2.2 I get a message that says either:

Unable to play: <FileName>
Video Codec: AVC
Audio Codec: AAC Version 4 LC

or

Unable to play: <FileName>
Video Codec: AVC
Audio Codec: DTS

I can play these files outside of MP using MPC-HC. I'm not really sure what I'm doing so I don't want to fiddle too much yet.

    Hi Astrotolus

As you have a nvidia gpu then use the LAV filters available from the desktop MP extensions installer, use the update option on tab 3.

Once downloaded and installed, there are shortcuts to these available from the Start menu\Programs\Lav filters, run the Lav video settings and enable CUVID hardware acceleration.
Now go to the LAV audio config and enable spdif passthrough for all available settings.

Once above done, you can now set LAV for ALL audio, and LAV for Video under MP config\codecs, still use MS for TV and DVD video unless you want to see how Lav performs there.

Thanks, that fixed it. I had to enable the "Use DTS-HD Framing for all DTS types" setting to fix an audio issue with one video, but both of the ones I found not be be working earlier are playing now.

Forgive my ignorance, what's the difference between ffdshow, AC3Filter, Haier and Lav filters? I've read other places that ffdshow should be used, this is a little confusing getting started.
