Hi,

I'm running a Freecom DVB-T USB Stick on my Windows Vista PC but how on earth can you add the capture card details into the capturecarddefinitions.xml file when it does not exist? Seems to be a little bit strange to me...

Greetings,

    A. standard installation will use TVServer, this will auto detect your freecom tuner.

B if you want to use the old inbuilt tvengine, open MP config, at the top left is link to user files, in there you will find the capturecarddefinitions.xml

I have found this process difficult as well. TV Server found my USB tuner (Pinnacle 73e Nano), I could find channels, but I got a "unable to create graph" error everytime I tried to view the channels. So to solve this I added a capturecard in the xml file. After a few hours of finding the right bits and pieces for the XML I got my USB tuner to work. It was only AFTER editing the xml file that it worked.

However, Paranoid you are saying that the xml file is not read by TV Server?

The TV-Server does not care about the capturecarddefinitions.xml. this file is not even located in the TV-Server installation folder. ;)

I think that you are using the inbuilt TV-Engine of MediaPortal and not the TV-Server. this is the only explanation why your change to capturecarddefinitions.xml had an effect.

How do I know if I am using TV Engine? I am using MP RC2 with latest SVN. I am also using a Leadtek PVR3200H that works well. If I do not setup TV Server nothing has worked in the past.

No timeshift button in MyTv. However, the USB tv tuner has stopped working again with "unable to start graph" error reappearing.

Then you are using the TV-Server.
So it must have been some sort of coincidence that after the change in CaptureCardDefinitions.xml, your problem was fixed.

As i said, the TV-Server does not use the CaptureCardDefinitions.xml. :)

So, if my USB tuner is continually getting "unable to start graph" error in TV Server what options do I have to get it working? Its DVB-T too.
