Hi all,

Just to let you know that I'm currently working on a new skin for use with MediaPortal in a car, A friend has a system in his car for all the music, so i'm creating the skin for him.

He has an Audi, and is a little obsessed, so it will probably have oudi Graphics on it, its going to be limited, as he doesn't use TV or anything like that, so its pretty much going to be Music & Video's, and is going to be designed for use on his Touchscreen.

if anyone has any idea's, feel free to post them, and i'll share my skin once its done.

has anyone else tried using MediaPortal as a car MP3 system?

I started working on one when i was considering replacing the sorry factory nav with a carputer. Turned out to be economically unwise. I also listen to a lot of XM radio, which is why i started to really consider streetdeck because it has XM support.

A couple of things i was planning on doing:

With the new skinning features, it's possible to have drop down menus instead of static buttons taking up screen space. The drop down menu was going to come from a top bar that also contained the basic controls like play, stop, etc.

Using the Basichome screen seemed the only way to go. The shortcuts i planned on having: Music, Video, TV, Radio and Programs. I included tv because i planned on having a tv/radio tuner in the carputer. Programs would have lead to among other things an external navigation program.

I was planning on having a Jeep logo in the background, but it wouldn't be difficult to change that to almost any car logo to accommodate different car makes.

I don't know if saved any of the stuff i did, but if i find it over the holidays i'll post it somewhere for download.
