    Hi all

I've been struggeling for a while to get a carPC for backseat entertainment running Kodi on a Raspberry. Never got to that smooth running phase where my 6 and 4 year old daugthers could operate the mediacenter on their own (meaning I won't have to stop to fix whatevers going down). So here's what I came up with...

It all started when i found the Mini-Box M3-ATX 12V power supply (http://www.mini-box.com/M3-ATX-DC-DC-ATX-Automotive-Computer-car-PC-Power-Supply), this ment I could scrap my Pi and go for x64. I opted for a Mini-Box M350 (http://www.mini-box.com/M350-universal-mini-itx-enclosure) chassi since it seemed like a nice fit with the power supply. An Asus N3150I-C (https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/N3150IC/) motherboard for it's low power consumption. A pair if cheap china made 12V HDMI monitors from Ebay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262456257781). Of course all the rest like SSD drive, headphones (wired with volume rocker on cord for individual volume), relay to power on monitors with ignition, power switches, HDMI-splitter etc. Worked out awesome and the kids love it since they're already familiar with MediaPortal from home :) Hey I'm just bragging right now but if anyones intrested I might find the time to write down the entire setup.

Awesome. Would be cool to add an FM transmitter to the audio so you can use the car stereo as a backup if a headphone cord breaks. ;)

Got a three way audio splitter, one for each kid and one to the stereo headunit. I've replaced the stereo with an China Android unit, fun to have apps like Spotify and Waze running native in my headunit but quality isn't what it's supposed to so line in gets distorted. Any deasent stereo with a aux socket would probably be fine.

How do you deal with power on/off and potential database corruption, or you haven't found any issues so far?

The power supply is connected to the power button pins on my motherboard so when ignition on it boots and vice versa, configured Windows power options to enter hibernation when power button is pressed. 30 seconds after ignition is off the power supply cuts all power to save car battery (in addition to this my car enters some kind of sleep after 10 minutes and also cuts). So far it works fine. In the last picture above you see two power switches in the center console, one is for ignition power to stop it from booting if no one is riding in the back, the other is for main power if I need to hard reset (I reach it from driver seat).
