certain buttons on remote not working (1 Viewer)

sorry guys im sure this has been asked before, but cant seem to find it.
my media center pc is nearly completed however the remote doesnt fully work. im using this ir reciever http://www.amazon.co.uk/Windows-Con...3J72/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1332960598&sr=8-1
with the harmony 300 remote set up to see the receiver as a ortek vrc 1100
this works but doesnt seem to allow to me to use the record fast forward etc, guide and info and various other buttons. these seem to all be set up fine by default using the default settings from media portals mce settings.
im assuming im just not understanding the mapping solution...
if anyone could explain to me how to get these buttons working for me that would be amazing!

i dont know wether eis will help but even when i have all the mediaportal remotes turned off, the remote still gives basic actions. im assuming that theres some windows mce remote thats over riding the medaportal stuff. its getting quite annoying now.
please some help would be wondeful

Hi,

did you choose Ortek VRC as device for the harmony for a special reason? Which IR receiver do you use?
I use the Harmony One with the "Microsoft MCE 1039" device selected inside the configuration software and an IMON Receiver. The MCE remote is well supported by MP so you should give it a try.

im using the ortek ir reciever. i think this is where all my woes are coming from. could you suggest a good reciever for me? needs to be on a wire so i can place it away from my pc

Yes this is probably an option but i would recommend you to test the other device profile for the harmony first.



Then set the configuration settings for the "MCE Remote" as its explained HERE.

unfortunatley doesnt work :9 although it does turn my xbox on!!

I just read some threads inside the Logitech forums and there are many other peoplea who have the same problem to get the receiver work with the Harmony.
if you cant get the receiver to work its maybe the best to buy an other one.
