Change keys for DVD playback (1 Viewer)

I am using a MCE compatible remote. I can navigate MP just fine, but when playing DVDs (using internal DVD player) the only thing I can do is play and pause. The FF and REW keys don't work. I checked the mappings (keyboard shortcuts) in MP configuration and tried to change them but the internal DVD player does not respond to the keys I assign in the MP configuration. For instance, the default FF and REW keys in MP are F5 and F6, however, I can press F5 and F6 in my keyboard while playing a DVD and they don't do anything. What's up with that?

Are the DVD player key mappings configured somewhere else? How can I change them? Thanks!

Which codecs are you using, have you tried ticking\unticking the use dxva, under dvd\codec in config.

With the likes of PDVD7 you can use there navigator instead.

Haven't tried the dvxa setting. I will check that out. Originally I was using the MPV codec, then I switched to the ATI MPEG-2 codec. I tried the PowerDVD codec as well, but how does this help? Does changing the codec affect the key shortcuts?
