Synopsis: I am still busy with the setup of my HTPC and I've come to a point where I need to control my DSTV decoder (South African satellite decoder) from MediaPortal. I want to be able to change the channels on my decoder by making use of a radio frquency remote (I thought of buying the Gyration MCE RF Remote or the ATI Remote Wonder II RF Remote).

With the WinTV PVR150 capture card I got the infrared remote - The remote is setup and I can use the remote in MediaPortal, however, it is not possible for me to change the channel on my satellite decoder..I don't know if it's because my decoder doesn't have an Infrared port or what the reason is, but I cannot get it to work. (I don't see an infrared port on the decoder).

The question is, should I buy a Radio Frequency remote, how would I go about setting it up and getting it to talk to the satellite decoder to change the channel. I know with the Infrared remote, it actually sends an infrared signal to the settopbox, but in the case of RF, how does it work.

Thanks
