First of all I must say sorry for my bad English ;) And I’m using Mediaportal rc1 with latest svn and the latest tvengine 0.3 release.

Started on: 2007-07-22
last update: 2007-07-22

Description:

If you start TV and a recording on another transponder is going on or you switch to another channel that isn’t on the same transponder then the “no free card available” error appears. That’s right – I only have one Dvb-t card inside.

But in my opinion it would be better if you can cancel the recording from this dialogue.
For example: “no free card available – Mediaportal records $PROGRAM. Press yes to turn on tv and stop recording or press cancel.”

The only way to stop is to go into the scheduler settings and delete the recording. Then go back to TV or epg and select the channel you want to view. In my opinion this handling is circuitous and too complex. It think that way would be easier and takes less time.

And another problem is that you can’t stop and/or delete a recording from the recording menu. You must go again to scheduler settings delete it there -> go back to recordings and delete it once again. I think it would be better if you can delete and stop ongoing recording from the recording menu too :). Of course if you have 2 or more cards it’s not really a problem… there is always a free card. But for users with one card (like me :p) I think this way is easier.

For example my wife is overstrained with this handling after watching her series she can’t watch TV until the recoding is finished (we added 10 min. to the recoding time because german senders sometimes starts the program too late ;) ). Sorry for my bad English and I hope my description of the problem was ok.

Thank you for reading my post :)

Hello,

thought the same thing. At least, such a dialogue does not make sense if the user can do nothing but confirm it to make it go away.

I thought about two possible options:

A show on channel A is being recorded.

1. A dialogue with these options:
Cancel recording on channel A and watch channel B or...
...turn on TV and start watching channel A (where the show is being recorded)

2. Turn on TV and start watching channel A. When trying to change the channel a dialogue would pop up and tell you a show is being recorded on channel A and if you are sure you want to change the channel (in that case the recording would be terminated)

What do you think?

Regards,
Simon

Well that's a thing we already discussed indeed , even many times. I assume any of us had enough time to add such yet , but spotting that again may will put that on the top of our todo list ;)

I'd also like to see this method of handling recordings (won't call it a feature due to the feature freeze!). I generally pad recordings out by about 10 minutes, and the other day I knew that the program I was recording had finished airing, but it was tricky to stop the recording.

    Cheers!

I actually modified the tvplugin so if a recording is going on, the tv tunes to that channel so u can see that is recording. If not recording it goes stright to fullscreen tv.
