My current setup is as follows:
CPU: Athlon64 X2 2ghz
RAM: 4gb
MB: Biostar K8M800
Gfx: Geforce 6600

In the past, I did not have an HDTV and used the SVIDEO out to hook up to a regular TV. I had the resolution set to 1280x768 and was able to play HD transport stream files (recorded with MYHD) with no problem. It was choppy at first but I switched to the NVIDIA Pure Video decoder and it smoothed everything out.

I just got a new LCD HDTV, so I have switched to the DVI output (using a DVI-hdmi) cable. I have the resolution set to 1920x1080 60hz. Most of the videos still play great and smooth, but I now notice that some seem to be choppy eventhough they use to play fine. The cpu usage is still only 15% when playing. So far it seems the 1080i ones are ok but the 720p ones are not. but that may be a coincidence

So I'm wondering if this sounds like I'm video card limited or there is some other problem.

I did more testing on various HDTV transport streams I have recorded in (1280x720, 1280x1088, 1920x1088).

It seems that all my video plays fine EXCEPT the 1920x1088 video, it is a little choppy. More specifically, it seems to skip every half second.

I am using the Nvidia PureVideo decoder so it is being offloaded to my Geforce card. i'm wondering if my geforce card is too slow or there is some configuration setting. If I have to change cards, it will be costly as I will likely have to switch to a PCI-E motherboard. There are not too many settings in the Nvidia Purevideo or VMR9 tabs on media portal. I tried EVR but I seem to get no HW accel from that. Is it possible that it is trying to resize the 1920x1088 video to 1920x1080 (which it shouldnt).
