i am wanting to change the sourse of my xmltv file for my EPG, ive re-run webepg-config and made a new webepg.xml file, tried to manually download the data and its not doing anything, after a few seconds it gives up and changes from writing to tvguide with NO data in it. My question is what files do i need to remove to start fresh with the EPG ie: the TVDatabaseV21.db3 file needs to go (from what ive read) and im sure there are others

any help greatly appreciated as ive got everything else sorted now, but this has had me beat for a while

what files do i need to remove to start fresh with the EPG

You don't need to remove any files, just go into MediaPortal Setup -> Television -> Program Guide and click on "Remove all programs from TV database" .... :)

Also, attach your WebEPG.log file here - that might give us a clue as to why your TVGuide.xml file is "empty".

What is the new source that you have selected - is it OzTivo?

sorry forgot to mention i have the engine in hte background, but refresh EPG only grabs a bit of online listing

im needing a decent tvguide file first to import

this is where it starts and calls it a day its is already called tvguide after a few seconds

i figured if i ran the webconfig i could change from yahoo to oztivo, and presto - guess not

granted i dont know what im talking about but i think my oztivo grabber file is out of date/wrong. If i build a webepg.xml file it says there are no guide days - maybe pointing at the wrong site??

...and the stupid part is when i re-set it back for yahoo, all is good, im convinced its keeping a setting somewhere and getting confused after i change it, either that or the oztivo file i have is incomplete somehow?

It sounds like you might be hitting the "wrong" OzTivo server - I don't know the full details, but they used to have 2 servers; one at 202.154.90.10 and one at 122.252.3.114. For some reason, they shut down the server at 202.154.90.10, but haven't updated the DNS. So, if you are unlucky, your DNS will point you to the non-existent 202.154.90.10 server.

A workaround is to update your local "hosts" file to point to the correct server at 122.252.3.114. You can do this by adding the line :-

    122.252.3.114 xml.oztivo.net

to the end of your "hosts" file, which is located in \windows\system32\drivers\etc on WinXP

I shouldn't complain, because this is a free service that I am very grateful for, but I wish the OzTivo administrators would force an update to the DNS, to fix this issue ... ;)

    HTH ....
