Hi, I'm thinking of setting up some clients to my tv-server. I have I working tv-server with the client on it and now I'm thinking of setting up a couple of clients to the server, but I have not seen anywhere what the hardware requirements for a client is. So I'm wondering if it enough with:
CPU 1.GHz
Memory 512 mb
Graphic card FX 5200
Harddrive 20 gb.

The clients shall be able to se livetv, recorded tv and shedule recordings, stream video files from the server. Do you think that the specs are enough for that?

Anyone? Client requirements?

I have similar situation here.

I'd like to build a low budget silent MP client and put the noisy MP server somewhere else.

Would 800 MHz do the job?
I have 54 MBps wlan in my house between computers. Is that fast enough between server and client to transfer live tv etc.

It seems in my research, the client needs to do all of the processing for the TV stream, so if you're intention is to run HDTV or the like, you'll need the client to be pretty well the latest and greatest.
With regards to 54mb wifi streaming, I have it working successfully with my media center to my home PC WITH HDTV but if my partner tries to use her laptop for anything online, the stream jitters and lags quite a bit. So I would have to say, unless you have a 108Mb wireless LAN, forget about it for reliable watching.
