I'm running an HDHomeRun tuner on my unit which, according to what I've read on some forums, has some problems with TV-Server RC3 but works on RC2. So far, TV-Server sees the HDHomeRun just fine so I don't think there's any problems there.

However, in MediaPortal and go to TV, the message I get is "Connected to TV server. Unable to connect to database."

I tried using MySQL, and I also tried Microsoft's SQL 2005, problem persists either way.

Any hints on what I'm doing wrong?

TV-Server Version: 1.0.0.0 RC2
MediaPortal Version: 1.0.0.0 RC3
MediaPortal Skin: Indigo
Windows Version: Windows XP SP3
CPU Type: Athlon X2 4850e 2.5ghz)
HDD: 750gb
Memory: 2GB
Motherboard: ASUS M3N78-VM
Video Card: Nvidia Geforce 8200
1. TV Card: HDHomeRun

Hi, did you try with MediaPortal RC2? I do not really know, but as I read in another post, it is possible to connect an RC2 client to an RC3 Server, but not an RC3 client to an RC2 server.

If this does'nt help: I think for more detailed hints you should add your logfiles, and maybe some more information (single seat configuration, ...).
Good Luck! Alfred

Alfred, this is exactly my problem as I do have a testsystem with rc3 client but the server is an rc2 version. This is needed as the other two rc2 clients are running well with rc2 on the server and I don't want to risk anything.

Is it possible to have two servers running on the very same system for testing rc3 ?

Hi,
I cannot imagine that this is possible; they would try to use the same hardware.

But why do you not make a complete backup (as described here Updating your MediaPortal installation (I suggest the manual backup)? With this you do not risk anything and always will be able to go back.

Additionally, for settings I recommend New TvServer Plugin: BackupSettings. Then you should be 100% safe.

Alfred
