[QUOTE="mm1352000, post: 1104480, member: 82144"] Thanks for the log files (y) In the second set of logs I can see that MediaPortal is configured to look for a TV Server running on 192.168.1.104. It seems to find the TV Server fine: [collapse] [2014-10-14 17:26:56,073] [Log ] [TvClient-TvHome: HeartBeat transmitter thread] [DEBUG] - RemoteControl: RegisterChannel first called in Domain MediaPortal.exe for thread TvClient-TvHome: HeartBeat transmitter thread with id 11 [2014-10-14 17:26:56,088] [Log ] [TvClient-TvHome: HeartBeat transmitter thread] [DEBUG] - RemoteControl: TCP connect took : 1 [2014-10-14 17:26:56,088] [Log ] [TvClient-TvHome: HeartBeat transmitter thread] [INFO ] - RemoteControl - Connected [2014-10-14 17:26:56,088] [Log ] [TvClient-TvHome: HeartBeat transmitter thread] [INFO ] - TVHome: OnRemotingConnected, recovered from a disconnection [2014-10-14 17:26:56,104] [Log ] [TvClient-TvHome: HeartBeat transmitter thread] [INFO ] - TVHome:OnLoaded [2014-10-14 17:26:56,104] [Log ] [TvClient-TvHome: HeartBeat transmitter thread] [DEBUG] - ChannelNavigator: ctor() [2014-10-14 17:26:56,120] [Log ] [TvClient-TvHome: HeartBeat transmitter thread] [INFO ] - RemoteControl - Connected [2014-10-14 17:26:56,120] [Log ] [TvClient-TvHome: HeartBeat transmitter thread] [INFO ] - ChannelNavigator::Reload() [2014-10-14 17:26:56,182] [Log ] [TvClient-TvHome: HeartBeat transmitter thread] [INFO ] - get channels from database [/collapse] However, it is not able to connect to the TV Server database (a separate connection): As you have noticed, the database connection is configured in the gentle.config file. The logs show the gentle.config file is configured to look for "Media-PC"... and it seems that name is not working. A few comments... The gentle.config file is pushed from the server to the client. If "Media-PC" is wrong and you've been trying to change it, make sure you make the change in the server's gentle.config file because any changes on the client will just be overwritten. On the other hand, if "Media-PC" is right and not working then [LIST=1] [*]You may have a DNS issue. In other words, the client can't convert the hostname (Media-PC) to the correct IP address. [*]You may have a connectivity issue. In other words, firewalls on either the client or server blocking the connection, or database user/security configuration preventing the client from logging into the database. [/LIST] My suggestion would be to try to use the IP address in the gentle.config file for a start. If that works, you know the problem is likely to be a DNS issue (...which can be resolved by adding an entry to the Windows hosts file c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc). If using the IP address doesn't work then try temporarily disabling all firewalls on the client and server (don't forget the built-in Windows firewalls). If that doesn't help you'll probably need to look at database configuration. That's a bit more involved so I'm going to delay explaining how to do that until it is necessary. Best regards, mm [/QUOTE]
