Hi!

I’m planning to build a new HTPC and I intend to use the following components:

Case: Silverstone LC04 (http://www.silverstonetek.com/products-lc04.htm)
Motherboard: Asrock ALiveNF4G-DVI (http://www.asrock.com/product/ALiveNF4G-DVI.htm)
TV card: Hauppauge WinTV PVR 500MCE
CPU: AMD Sempron 3500+ (AM2)
CPU cooler: Zalman CNPS8000 (108(L) X 108(W) X 62.5(H)mm)
HD: Samsung HD400LJ (400GB)
Sound card: ESI Juli@ (http://www.esi-pro.com/viewProduct.php?pid=43&page=2)
Other: VGA to SCART converter (http://av-connection.com/?PGr=846&ML1=1)

I have a few questions regarding this setup:
  • The motherboard is not my favorite but it is the only AM2 motherboard I have found that is compatible with the Silverstone LC04 (I need to use the 2xPCI riser card). Do you know of any other compatible AM2 motherboards?
  • Will the Hauppauge PVR500MCE fit into the Silverstone LC04?
  • Will the ESI Juli@ fit into the Silverstone LC04?
  • Will the Zalman CNPS8000 fit into the LC04? Any other recommendations for a silent CPU cooler that could fit?
  • Do I need an additional case fan to get proper cooling?

Any other comments on the setup are of course welcome. Thank you very much for your help!

Regards,
Erik

I bought LC14B-M (black + multimedia) and I can use everithing in my PC. Not need Riser card for using some PCI card, and have good iMON display. I know it's higher then LC04 but all moderboards and cards I can use in the future also.
Fans must be change on Silverstone, because they noise bigger then need.

Thanks for your feedback SSaki! The reason why I have chosen the LC04 is due to it size. I have limited space in my stereo furniture, and the 31cm depth of the LC04 fits in perfect. The LC14 (and most other cases!) are around 43cm deep. If you now of any other cases that are around 30-35cm deep please let me know!

Regards
Erik

I have the same case but my mediaportal is based on an old athlon xp 2400 (barton). I use firedtv as tvtuner (but you must have a firewire port) so I don't need to fit other PCI cards into the chassis.
I think the zalman will fit (there's plenty of space where CPU is located). My raccomandation is to use a cooler that takes air from the CPU and ejects it through the hole over the processor. I personally use a termaltake silent boost for athlon XP.
To make the HTPC silent and cooled I recommend to:
    - Install an additional fan on the left of the case where there are holes.
    - Substitute the fan in the power supply with a more silent one (the one installed is pretty noisy)
    - Buy some zalman fan mate 2 or something similar to reduce the fan voltage and noise
