A search didn't really help me to find what I'm looking for, so please flog me if this has already been discussed. Is there a list of compatible hardware for Media Portal to record HDTV/Analog signals (in my case, a hybrid combo of both. I'd love to see a list of 'it works good enough to use') ? EDIT: I'm a fool and didn't read the FAQ. Found the list, but still would like to know about the AverTV USB. I am looking to buy a new USB 2 HDTV tuner for my laptop. The Hauppauge WinTV HVR-950 looks nice, but doesn't have a remote. I looked at the AverMedia AverTV hybrid USB MCE, but as you can see, with MCE in its name, it is designed specifically for Windows Media Center. It doesn't come with any PVR software, and requires Media Center to do its recording. I'd love to know if the AverMedia USB is usable outside of Media Center (I use XP Pro). If the Hauppauge USB is compatible and works fine, then I suppose I could do without a remote (or buy an IR + remote separately). If someone has a better recommendation for hardware, then that would help too. I didn't see the AverTV USB on the compatibility list. Thanks for helping a newbie out! :thx: Another Edit:After doing lots and lots of googling, I finally found an answer to my question about the AverMedia USB hybrid. Evidently, it works fine with other PVR software besides media center (tested by a few people) so I would assume it works ok with Media Portal. Guess I'll just have to buy the thing and find out ;)
