Hi there,

I finally completed my HTPC. Hier are the Specs:

Building: Because of the high and big case, buliding was quite easy. (Only the huge CPU-Cooler always gives me some trouble.) The case provides high quality. Although the price is far too high. I took the case, because it fits into my cabinet and I wanted the big 120mm Fans for a noiseless HTPC.

The case fan is right next to the CPU-cooler. The speed of the system-fan changes between 500 and 800 rpm depending on the temperature of the system. The airflow of the systemfan also washs around the cpu-cooler, therefore the fan of the cooler is only runnin once in a while.

The only noise, if we can talk about "noise", is coming from the harddisk-drives. The "Suspend vibration dampening hard drive cage" of the expensive case is not really working. I am thinking of hanging the harddrives loose between rubbers. Enough space would be there. In the second step I am thinking of building in only one notebook harddrive and putting a NAS in the cellar which is connected with a 1GB LAN.

The optical combined HD/BD drive works great. The graphics card works perfektly together with my Toshi TV. If I watch HD I force the graphics card to 24Hz. If I watch TV I put it back to 50Hz. This is done by the Harmony 555 which also works great over the iMon tool together with MediaPortal.

So overall I am quite happy with the setup.

But one thing is annoying me. I can't control the system fan. And non of the tools like speedfan or the gigabyte tools are working. But the good thing: Since I can't here the Scythe 120mm Fan even if it is running with 120rpm. I don't have a problem. But i would like to have that thing under my control.....

Here are some pics. I did'nt clean up the cables yet and you can see the yellow tape, which I placed there to close the right opening, so that the air has to come in from the left side. By the way turnig the direction of the system-fan from outside in to inside out lowered the system temperatur by 10°C.

Can you share your systems temperatures?

While watching a TV-recording, the CPU slows down to 2000Mhz
Then I have the following temperatures after 4 hours of running:

System 45°C and CPU 29°C with the system fan running at 535 rpm and the CPU-Fan not running.

If I will watch a HD-Movie I will look at the temperatures again and report.

The case is standing free a on the picture. The case is closed.

When its in the cabinet, I hope there will not be too much of a change.

Does that plastic crap on the front sides come off? What is the point of putting plastic over aluminum?

What do you mean? There is no plastic. It's all aluminium. I guess, it's supposed to be beautiful design.
