Hiya,

I didn't have much of a clue about tv server either at first.

It basically enables you to record on one or more channels whilst watching another (with just one video card). Worth checking out although it's software in development.

To install, uninstall MP first and start again and copy the video tutorial WORD FOR WORD in the same order (read my earlier post on what i did).

good luck.

The ability to view more than one channel via one tuner card is for digital TV only and very experimental.
The basic idea about the TV server is to seperate the Mediaportal GUI (the thing you look at) and the things needed to create some signal PC's comprehend from your TV tuner. Goals are things like:
-Have a dedicated TV server with TV cards and watch TV on another PC.
-Recording programs while Mediaportal isn't running
etc.
And a lot of things you'll probably consider jargon. ;)

I'd recommend you to let the whole TV server thing wait for the time being, if you have a single PC you'd like to use for watching TV, the current TV engine is fine. Start focussing on the quircks in your installation which bother you and once you gained a little bit experience in the ins and outs of MP, explore the experimental builds.
In the support forums you can find templates how to post support questions (look for the sticky treads). We do need to know some things about your PC to be able to help out, so please fill them in as good as possible.

Yes, what he said!

Wait for TV Server final version if I were you.

The best MP function for me is the shutdown/wakeup for recordings function and that aint ready for TV server yet so I'm using the stable build MP.

In terms of MP SVNs.. can anyone recommend one that's fairly tried and tested by now and relatively safe? I'm reluctant to download, like, last night's one in case my compuer blows up.
