Synopsis::

My recordings (olympic games, 3h recording) get huge, 11G for example. Searching in that file causes MP to hang (different problem, not the subject of this report). To get to a smaller size i want to convert to WMV.

The error I get is:

Do you have the Elecard MPEG2 Decoder installed (not just the Elecard codec pack)?

Codec Pack = Free
Decoder = $$

Can you compress to MPEG? What happens?

Ahhh, that requirement wasn't listed anywhere (or did I miss a "FM")
The product required is the "Elecard MPEG-2 Decoder and Streaming Pack" @ http://www.elecard.com/products/products-pc/codec-pack/149/mpeg2-decoder

It would be good to have a list of payware product that help to make MP work better. It's easy to loose track of what is needed.

For example, if I buy this, do I need Win DVD? I doesn't look like it?
Elecard MPEG-2 Decoder can process DVD Subpicture, Closed Captions (DVD, ATSC. DVS157, C-Cube, SCTE).

Elecard MPEG2 Video Decoder is Windows XP Media Center Edition compatible. Install the pack to enable dvd video playback in multimedia players built on DirectShow (e.g., Windows® Media Player).

Or would I still have problems with for example navigation?

Thanks a lot for your answer!
