Hello guys!

I started yesterday afternoon trying to get my "Hauppauge WinTV Go2" with "Conexant 881" Chip running.

I started editing the "CaptureCardDefinitions.xml". I collected the information I needed from the System Information of Windows XP (Professional) and GraphEdit. The I copied the entry in "CaptureCardDefinitions.xml" from the "Hauppauge WinTV USB" because it also is a software encoding analogue card. Then I changed all the information in the entry with my collected information and got the following entry:

Code:
  <capturecard commercialname="Hauppauge WinTV 88x" capturename="Hauppauge WinTV 88x Video Capture" devid="ven_14f1&dev_8800&subsys_34010070&rev_03">
    <capabilities tv="true" radio="true" mpeg2="true" mce="false" sw="false" bda="true"/>
    <tv>
      <interface cat="mux" video="" audio="" mpeg2="0"/>
      <filters>
        <filter cat="tvtuner"		name="Hauppauge WinTV 88x Tuner"		checkdevice="false"/>
        <filter cat="crossbar"	name="Hauppauge WinTV 88x Crossbar"		checkdevice="false"/>
        <filter cat="capture"		name="Hauppauge WinTV 88x Video Capture"	checkdevice="false"/>
        <filter cat="videncoder"	name="InterVideo Video Encoder"		checkdevice="false"/>
        <filter cat="audencoder"	name="InterVideo Audio Encoder"		checkdevice="false"/>
        <filter cat="mux"		name="%mpegmux%"					checkdevice="false"/>
      </filters>
      <connections>
        <connection sourcefilter="tvtuner"	sourcepin="0" sinkfilter="crossbar"		sinkpin="1"/>
        <connection sourcefilter="crossbar"	sourcepin="0" sinkfilter="capture"		sinkpin="0"/>
        <connection sourcefilter="capture"	sourcepin="0" sinkfilter="videncoder"	sinkpin="0"/>
        <connection sourcefilter="capture"	sourcepin="4" sinkfilter="audencoder"	sinkpin="0"/>
        <connection sourcefilter="videncoder"	sourcepin="0" sinkfilter="mux"		sinkpin="1"/>
        <connection sourcefilter="audencoder"	sourcepin="0" sinkfilter="mux"		sinkpin="1"/>
      </connections>
    </tv>
  </capturecard>

Then I tried to detect the capture card in MediaPortal Configuration, but it didn't work, the log says the following:

Code:
2007-04-22 21:05:43.272444 [Info.][Config Main]: device:Hauppauge WinTV 88x Video Capture id:@device:pnp:\\?\pci#ven_14f1&dev_8800&subsys_34010070&rev_03#3&61aaa01&0&38#{65e8773d-8f56-11d0-a3b9-00a0c9223196}\global

So I think that MediaPortal recognizes the card, but something with the encoder information was wrong. I installed the InterVideo codec because I couldn't find any codec mentioned in here. Because this didn't work either, I tried setting the "checkdevice" property to false, because I thought that it determines wheter this property should be checked while card is detected or not (Is there any description of "CaptureCardDefinitions.xml"?).

Now I don't really know what is left to chang ein the "CaptureCardDefinitions.xml". Does anybody know something about getting "Conexant 88x" cards running?

I'll try again this evening but it looks like there is no way to get this cards running?

Maybe anyone of you tried to get it running and can post his experiences in this thread.

Greetz,
mabu

Do you have the InterVideo video and audio encoders installed? Do they show up in GraphEdit?

Also, you may need to change the pin assignments. Different encoders will have different pins

Yes I have both codecs installed and also tried to do the right pin assignment (I looked them up in GraphEdit).

But are these pin-assignments necessary for the detection of the tv-card? Shouldn't show the card up in MediaPortal Configuration also if only the hardware adress and the codec information is right? What does MediaPortal check while detecting a TV card?

Thanks for the link Furetto, I'll take a look at your post later in this afternoon.
