    Since this

06/09/2007 [18:25h] Broceliande added: Added splash screen while configuration is loading

has been added to configuration.exe the configuration window always will load into the background and has no focus if other windows are open.
A bit annoying if you want to follow the good tips and infos in this forum with your webbrowser, start configuration.exe and the window does not behave as expected on Windows.

    Anyone can confirm that?

    you mean you:
    1. click MediaPortal Configuration
    2. open webbrowser
    3. configuration.exe doesnt start "on top" ?

if yes, then absolutely correct. since you "focused" application is the webbrowser......

Sorry if I was unclear in my first post. I mean:

    1. open webbrowser
    2. click MediaPortal Configuration
    4. Splash shows on top
    3. configuration.exe starts behind webbrowser and is unfocused

    nope, not here.

    1. opened webbrowser
    2. start -> applications -> MediaPortal
    3. clicked MediaPortal configuration
    4. Configuration shows up infront of the open webbrowser window. IF I DO NOT CLICK THE WEBBROWSER IN THE MEANTIME! ;)

    [/LIST]

I don't click anywhere while Configuration loads. I'm aware that this would steal the focus of a loading application under Windows.

I've also just tested without any other application window open: configuration.exe still opens without focus.

    See for yourself: No focus

Disabled some plugins to see if they cause problems but same behaviour.

Have to say that this was not tested with a clean install. My MP installation was upgraded from 0.2.2.0 to 0.2.3.0 RC2 and then so some SVNs.

configuration.exe is 2,97 MB (3.121.152 Bytes) and says "Assembly Version" 0.2.2.9991

I've been having a lot of problems with this when starting MediaPortal lately. Using Girder I have setup "the green button" on my mce remote to launch MediaPortal. My gripe is just that MediaPortal doesn't claim focus after launch resulting in me having to reach for the big and clumsy and otherwise superfluous keyboard.
Launching a fresh installed MP on my work computer revealed that same pattern: That MP doesn't claim focus after done loading.
Can anyone confirm this and eventually fix? Thanks :)

just enable "mediaportal always on top" in MediaPortal Configuration -> general ;)

I've had "mediaportal always on top" enabled for years. Hence why it used to work fine.
I've tried removing the check mark, saving config, and setting it again, but it didn't help.
    I know that's what it's there for ;)

Any other ideas? I have no clue as to what could be stealing focus, as there is nothing else that should be doing so, especially not all of a sudden.
Is it with 100% certainty coded so that MP steals focus once fully loaded?

By the way, programs starting "always on top" isn't the same as gaining focus. Gaining focus means that the application becomes active. On the other hand an application (or window for that matter) can very well be "on top" while still not have focus.

    Thanks :)
