I have been struggling with install/configuration of MP using the 0.3 engine for a few days. Now I need some help!
First of all I find the guides in the Wicki very confusing and incomplete - It is difficult to figure out which parts of the configuration are required to do in MP Client, e.g: Why would I have to setup anything using the "old" client tv engine, when I will install the server TV engine later?
My install steps with some problems and questions in bold:
- Install MP client: (http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/MediaPortalSetupWizard)
- Accept decoder installs
- Start MP setup, go through the wizard:
- 2/10, General:
- Disable "Use Exclusive DirectX...."
- 3/10, Skin:
- Select Blue Two
- 4/10, Media:
- Just hit next
- 5/10, TV Analog:
- Select DK, Cable and start scan
- Too many channels were found and channel names were not matched very good
- Question 1: Do I need to scan at this point when I want to use the TV Engine 0.3?
- 6/10, Radio Analog:
- Just hit next
- 7/10, TV Program guide:
- Just hit next
- 8/10, Remote:
- Disable MS remote
- 9/10, Wether
- Add Cph
- 10/10, Fnish!
- Start MP
- TV works and can show the channels that were found in the scan
- Install MP TV Engine: http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/TV-Engine_0.3/install-TV-Server
- Install MP Client Plugin: http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/TV-Engine_0.3/install-Client
- Configure MP TV Engine: http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/TV-Engine_0.3/config-TV-Server
- Click Yes to start TV service when asked
- Scan for tv channels (DK, Cable, Medium) on both cards
- Problem 1: close/start TV Engine setup -> all channels are gone from the card list, yet channels are still visible in the TV Channels
- Problem 2: Channel names are not correct for many channels. Some times the current show name is mistaken for channel name
- Start MP
- Configure client: http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/TV-Engine_0.3/config-Client
- Problem 3: Config picture for client plugin does not show; rather normal tv is shown
- By starting timeshift on a channel in TV Engine I can now select the stream in MP and see the tv channel, but I cannot change channel!
- Question 2: Is this a problem following from the fact that I have not ben able to configure the plugin yet?
I know this is a lot at the same time, but I decided to write all (well not even started with EPG yet!) as I am not sure where my mistakes starts. Anyway I hope someone will be able to pinpoint one or more mistakes in my process, so I can get this great thing to work.
