How do I configure Media Portal. I click on Media Portal Configuration on my desktop but then I can't get the configurat ion screen shown in the manual. The left side is the same but not the rest. How do I set up composite video for my TV from my sattelite box.

Nasinger... maybe I know... had the same issue at first. When you start MP configuration... at the top right of the screen you will see a toggle button that says something like... switch to expert mode. By clicking on that, MP configuration displays a lot more information... a lot more. Hope that helps.

Maybe you don't know. I made it expert and the screen did not change. Maybe my download is bad. I have V 1.0 RC 3

Hmmm... yup that's the same version I have... sorry... when I switch to Standard mode I lose lots of configuration choices... when I switch to Expert Mode... many more choices on the Right side of the screen in configuration... sorry, mabye somebody else has got some ideas for you. But I'm convinced (because I can see with my own eyes) that by switching between Expert and Standard mode does add additional choices for you... something else is wrong!

You know... I just tried again... Try this ... open MP configuration. Click on the + sign for Movies. You'll see sub choices under the movie folders when you do this. Then click and unclick the "switch to ..." button and see if addtional subfolders are added and then removed as you click between the switch to button. Do you not see sub choices appear then disapper?

For me in Standard Mode under the Movies selection... I have three sub choices... Movie folders, Movie Databases & Movie Player. When I now click on Expert, I get those plus... Movie Extensions, Movie Views and Movie Post Processing...

Does this not hapeen for you?

Do you have the screen for configuration where the right hand side has this figure holding a collection box.

    nasinger-
CUE is correct. What you see in the right hand pane of the configuration window is determined by which item is selected in the tree-view list in the left panel.

For adding composite video for the settop satellite box, you'd click on the Television item, then you would see the Add/Edit channels tab. (Going from memory here since I am at work.) Add, select the composite input instead of Tuner, and click OK.

This assumes you installed the TV2 engine, and not TV Server (or TV3) - depends on the options you selected during installed. If you have the Tv Server you have to do this in the TV Server configuration.

For more advanced configuration, you could set up your external channels this way, include the satellite channel number, and use an IR Blaster to change the channel on the STB for you, instead of just using the input and using the satellite box like normal. And, of course, have useable guide information instead of a single Composite channel that lists "no data available".

Thanks. How do I specify composite video for my Angel USB TV tuner? I want to watch TV on my Dell Laptop E1505 and haven't been able to make Media Center Edition/XP work so I'm trying Media Portal as it's free.

Does MP see that card? I can't find any Angel product listed on the supported tuner cards for TV2 or TV3. Check the supported hardware list here: Home - MediaPortal Manual Documentation

Make sure the card works with the supplies software that came with the card (so you know it works, and the drivers are correctly installed). Then start up MP Config (or TV Server config, as the case may be) to see if MP has identified your card. If you don't see the card available, then it's not supported by MP.

You may need to just start another post titled something along the lines of "Angel USB tuner card support?" to find out if anyone has one working.

    To: Milhouse

I never got MCE to work with my Angel tuner. It's external and a box, not a card. In aerospace where I use to work some, we called it a WRA (Weapons Replacable Assemble). Have you heard of someone getting MCE to work with something like an Angel. Two student from UCLA where I went defined aerospace: Things that fly or kill people.
