Curious, the remote that you have was shipped with the tv-tuner? Or is it an Microsoft remote?

Some cases have an IR sensor built into them, mine didn't however so I have 2 choices:
1. Plug the IR that came with the tv-tuner into the tunercard
2. Plug the Microsoft transceiver (came with the microsoft remote) into a usb port, which works excellent.

As I know from other external IR receivers, they are usually plug into the TV-card. Unfortunately, you can't really see a PCI slot at the back in order to find the card. What I can do is I simply looked around the TV antenna input. What I could find is "IR Blaster". But there's no hole, only a mark of the metal cut.

The remote has a button with the Windows flag, but nowhere saying Microsoft. There's also another receiver with USB (looks like a small drum). I'm assuming it's for the wireless keyboard and mouse, or maybe it's for the remote? Will try that at home.

As bigl said "with almost no documentation". Honestly, that's the worst documented product I got in my hand. As we got used to the fact that usually several models share one instruction. But normally, at least you know which models are sharing the document and what model you are having. In their instruction, they simply say "selected model" for optional features. Nowhere mentioning the IR receiver.

The remote works now, thanks.
I didn't use the IR cable which seems to be an extention for the "drum".

Now it's the problem to figure out the functions on the remote. I can try all buttons. But one button is not good to try - the on/off button.
When I was running MS-MediaCentre I pressed that button. The monitor turned off and the PC seemed to be going to another state while the power light started flashing. After a while, the monitor turned back on, but remained black and the power light is lighted. It didn't react on keystroke. Then I pressed the power button and the screen was back. The PC shut down.

My question: What does the on/off button on the remote do? Does it make any different whether MS-MC is running?

Socket for blasters are on the back of this drum, usually.

I think it puts the comp to sleep.. But I remapped it a long time ago, so I'm not sure. It does not have any effect if MCE is running or not - no.
