Confused about tuning setup (1 Viewer)

Okay folks, I'm a bit confused and the only documentation talks about settings that are no longer present. :)

I have two tuners, 1) Hauppauge PVR-250 connected via serial port to Cable Box and S-VHS connection from Cable Box to the card, 2) Fusion5-Gold (hybrid) that has a straight cable coax connection for basic non-settop cable and clear QAM support.

The Fusion5 works perfectly, however, since I'm not using the built-in tuner for the Hauppuage, I need to configure a Motorola Serial tuner, fine (my box is a DCT2000 series). This I understand.

The big question is - how would I configure, say, Channel 4 on the Hauppuage? Where do I say, "Use this Motorola Tuner for this card, but not for the Fusion5?"

Then, of course, there's the issue of channels. Snapstream is able to "scan for channels" though the Serial Tuner just fine. Is that what I have to do in MP?

p.s. the documentation was about an "external channel" tab. Can't find it anywhere.....

Thanks,

External Channel is for the built in TV, not TV Server. So if your using the new TV Server then you will not see an external tab.

I have yet to get TV Server to work with serial STB's, so I went with the built in TV, and have to manually add each channel I want.

Is this authoritative? TV-Server doesn't work for serial tuners? (if it is, I'll mark thread as answered).

On my "everyday" desktop machine is where I want to run MediaPortal, which is running the RC2 install.

Anything I can do to help? I pulled the MotorolaSerialTuner plugin and updated it to the RC2 release on my dev machine, so I'm sorta setup to test at least that part of it. It's a bit of a pain, as I have to 'remote debug', but, such is life. Maybe a good USB Tuner for my dev box.... (hmmm, note to self: search Amazon).

No this is not official. I just stated *I* have not been able to make it work. Then again, I am using DirecTV with their STB's.

I would say go for the test. If you got it to work, I'm sure there are others that would love the info.

Okay, from the RC2 code-base, the design of the code required either some non-trivial changes, or needs the attention of someone that understands the design at lot better.

I can't remember how far I got, at this point - I do remember getting lost in the channel related stuff regarding the ATSC tuning and DVB tuning, etc.... Never got my ATSC tuner to pick up OTA HD channel and my current carrier has all ATSC channels encrypted..... Anyway I think I got as far as following the tuning request to the TVServer.
