    My questions:

[1] I read that there are som issues with ATi's latest drivers - should I avoid using ATi? I think the Gigabyte 690G-board look so good, and nVidia's 7050-series produces more heat.

[2] Is there someway to force ATi to output 50 Hz (@1080p). I have managed to do this with nVidia, but not when I fooled around with ATi (above mentioned mobo and same TV as I have). Preferably WITHOUT 3.-party SW.

    Other advise?

I have an ASUS M2A-VM HDMI which, while not perfect, I am quite happy with its performance. I have a 1080i TV and am using the standard drivers that were supplied with the motherboard with the display set to 25Hz interlaced. If I knew of the Gigabyte boards at the time, I probably would have gone with one of those. They seem to be "just that little bit better".

    Hm... anybody gotten 50 Hz @ 1080(P)?

I use 720p@50Hz on my 1080i TV with the ASUS M2A-VM HDMI (690G Chipset) and standard catalyst drivers. In the catalyst control center i can choose between 50 or 60 Hz for 720p. I cannot try 1080p for you because i have no 1080p TV.

So far no problems here though i cannot recommend this ASUS board because of BIOS and hardware compatibility issues. The Gigabyte board should be a better choice.
