Hi all - first of all - go easy im a total MC noob!

After always having desktops ive just decided to make the switch to HTPC's and have build myself a nifty little system based on Windows 7 64 ultimate (asus bare bone system running an e7200, geforce 9300, 4gb ram, 1TB hard disk, bluray player, built in IR reciever and remote etc etc).

Ive connected it to my 1080p 40" samsung tv and im now looking at various front ends and trying to find one thats right for me.

Media portal has been recommended by a few people and i wanted to ask a few questions about what it can do.... and i appreciate that some of this may be down to plugins etc.

The one thing i have liked whn ive looked around the net is a software called boxee - i like the fact that you can search for a show and boxee will search around the net for a legitimate source and allow you to view.... can media portal do this? Failing that can i add custom internet TV channels? BBC Iplayer etc etc.

Can i incorparate sky player into MP?

How does media portal handle emulators - ive been looking at a software called Game EX which to me looks great for emulation etc but appears to have the actual media side of things tagged on as an afterthought - id much rather have the media in the forefront and emulation added as something to have a quick play with once in a while - if that makes sense.

How about Torrents - ive heard that XBMC can be configured with a torrent search engine and client - no idea if this is true or not but that sounds great if it is.... can this be achieved in MP? Does the same apply to news group based content?

Does MP totally replace windows meda centre - the reason i ask is that my keyboard and obviously remote both have MC functions - can these be remapped to work with MP instead? (eg - the media centre button on the keyboard).

Thats it for now - i have a million and one questions but i thought id get the biggies out of the way and ask the rest when ive installed my frontend of choice (same goes for forum registration!).
