I am using Media Portal 1.1 beta with the streamed mp .9xxx beta skin. I am using a Athlon X2 cpu with a nvidia 8600gt gpu. I am running windows 7 pro. I am using a harmony 880 remote with the Microsoft USB IR reciever. I have it connected to a Sony rear projection tv and a Onkyo reciever.

one problem and a couple questions -

1. I have the remote setup to toggle power so it puts the HTPC to sleep when I turn everything off and takes it out of sleep when I turn everything on. When I toggle everything on and it brings it out of sleep it goes to the log on screen and I have to click to log in.

Once I log in media portal attempts to start or restart. I chose the option in mediaportal config under general to restart mediaportal on resume. Said it prevented a problem with nvidia cards. But when it restarts it never goes past the starting DirectX part of initializing the program. If I alt tab there is some media portal thing that I have to select OK on to pass but I cant read it and it wont let me select ok. Is there anything I can do to make mediaportal start up more smoothly after resume?

Should I take the config off to restart mediaportal whenever I resume from standby?

(solved)2. How do I config my remote with a button that will allow me to start mediaportal from the desktop if I find myself out of mediaportal?

edit: Also figured this out by using the IRSS Translator feature. I programmed it to take button press Blue to start a program.

3. Do the newer CoreAVC 2 codecs have the same problem with MKVs where the videos artifact and what not or if I get those can I set it as my h.264 codec? If it does is FFDShow the best to use?

4. Is there any way to make it so when I resume from standby it automatically logs back in? I dont have a password on the HTPC so its not like I have anything to type in.

(solved)5. I have been trying to get a Toggle Video button to work. I have IRSS and am using Translator already like in question 2. I know that in MediaPortal X will Toggle the Video between small and big screen. I tried in Translator to use Button Green on my remote to use the keystroke X but it does not seem to work. Anyone have any suggestions on setting this up?

Update: So I noticed in a thread that the Red button can be used to toggle between video modes but when I click the red button all it does is flash the menu screed with the video toggled into the small box and then it goes directly back to fullscreen.

So I ended up going into IRSS Translator and setting RED to do the keystroke X and then it started working correctly....no idea why.
