well I am currently running media portal on a AMD sempron 2400 (pretty old). I am only using it for eveything but live tv so figured I wouldnt need to much processor power. The problem I am having is that I have a lot of albums and videos networed into my MP box. With all the album art covers and screen shots from all the videos, the scrolling of my music and my videos is way to slow for my tastes. So I am considering upgrading my mobo and CPU (i guess ram as well, need faster ram). My question is what to get. I dont want to spend too much money. I found some good deals on Celeron D's at around 3ghz. But most people in the forum seem to be recommending AMD athlons. Would it be worht the extra money for me to jump up to either a pentium 4 (@ 2.8ghz) or an athlon64. Or do you guys think the celeron D would be sufficeint for my needs. I just need my huge list of music and videos (and cover art) to load a lot faster.

Remember that Intel CPU in general uses more power than AMD (hence develpo more heat -> more noise), and that AMD has Cool 'n Quiet functions.

    My rec.:
    Budget: Sempron w/CnQ (s754)
    Main: AMD64 3000+/3200+ (s939) perf. on a nForce 430 mobo (w/6150GFX)
    To much money: PentiumM

My main rec. in bold text.
