I'm really liking MP and would like to use it for my HTPC project but am wondering if anyone has some tips for taming the cpu usage while viewing TV channels?
While viewing a channel in windowed or full screen mode MP starts out at about 40% cpu usage then eventually hits 100% after about a minute and then stays there...lol...great test of system stability and cooling I guess. For comparisons sake My Theater while viewing the same channel consumes 30-40% of my processing power no matter if I'm windowed or full screen.
Yes I know my DVB-S card is a software based unit but still it makes no sense that one application is consuming so much more cpu resources compared to the other while doing the same job. Both MP and MT are using the same audio\video rendering\decoding parts too and all my hardware drivers and Direct X stuff is up to date...I'm kind of scratching my head here
