I have ran out of ideas. I am getting crackling audio when running mediaportal. I originally ran into this issue when using a X-Fi XtremeMusic soundcard. I then switched over to an AuzenTech Xplosion7.1. After having no luck swapping out sound cards, I updated my motherboard to get onboard 7.1 audio. The issue is no where near as bad as it use to be (the X-Fi would basically scream static at me), but the crackling is still noticeable. Mediaportal seems to be the only app that causes this issue. Anyone else out there having this issue?

I'm assuming this is when playing music?

I've had it in the past, try doing this...I know it sounds strange but it works somehow for me.

1) Under Music-Settings, change the "Player" from 'Bass-Engine' to 'Internal Dshow Player' and save.
2) Start MediaPortal and see if the sound has improved, if it has close it down again.
3) Go back to Music-Settings, and change the "Player" back to 'Bass-Engine' and save.
4) See if your sound is still working..

It usually happens to me when I install a SVN, after doing the steps above the sound is fixed....something is probably resetting.

Anyway, hope you get it sorted..

I have just read this post.
But I think I have a the same problem.
I have used mediaportal for 2 years now, and it has worked very good.
But after upgrade to 2.3.0 and the latest svn, I got a very bad sound.
I tried the fix you talk about.
The best sound is " Internal Dshow Player" .
But it is not so good as before my upgrade.
I hope some one has the fix.
