I just purchased a Samsung 40" Series 8 LED TV and I am getting constant tearing whenever I play back SD avi's. It was happening with mkv's too, but I fixed it (to an extent) by installing MPC-HC's codec's for HD playback.
The annoying thing is that MPC-HC plays everything perfectly - it also plays perfectly if I call MPC through MP, but really I'd just rather get MP's player working
I've tried running reClock and it doesn't seem to make any difference. Whenever the camera pans across a scene, I get a band of picture around 10cm or so thick in the bottom third of the screen that is out of sync with the rest of the picture, almost like someone has moved it over a few cm. If I pause it a few times eventually it vanishes but re-appears a few seconds later either in the same place or right at the very top of the screen.
This will also happen with HD mkv's if I pause them even when using MPC's codec. I need to go back to the main menu and pick up where I left off to cure it. Again, playing/pausing works fine outside of MP in MPC-HC. Out of frustration I also tried XBMC and that has the same issue.
I have my Samsung set at 24Hz and it happens with or without 200Hz motion plus activated. It also happens if I run at 50hz or 60hz.
If anyone has any ideas I could try out this evening, that would be great
