Benoire - hello - I'm just posting to let you know I'm up for trying to help with this but I'll need a bit of initial guidance.

I have VS2012, but in VS terms have only ever programmed in C#. However I think the transition from C# to VB could be easier than the other way around.

I'm not massively experienced - I'll need a little bit of guidance on checking out of github, setting up VS to build, then building. Also where you get info from MediaPortal development team on compatibility and required changes between versions.

But I'm up for having a go if you have the patience to get me started.

VB.NET is the easiest high level language IMO. All the power of .NET, easy syntax, plus legacy VB code can still be used (although not recommended for new code).

How are people getting EPG data for 4Seven HD and Channel 4 +1 HD? These are both on Freeview HD but not on satellite, so the Sky UK Grabber doesn't work for these channels. I've tried enabling normal EPG grabbing for these channels via my DVB-T2 tuners (alongside Sky UK Grabber) but they won't update.

The EPG data for the SD versions of these channels would be fine but I don't think it's possible to "map" the EPG data of one channel to another.

I'll have a look. I've been away from Mediaportal for a while but came back because of the UNC updates on TV server that work for me. Therefore I have a 'clean' 1.8.0 installed without the update plugin. I have DVB-T and T2 channels running and updating EPG - but wasn't aware that these C4 HD channels were available - they may not be on my transmitter. But will have a look!

Yeah - as I only set all this up the other day the 2 channels were picked up on the initial scan.

They're picking up EPG. Have you enabled them to receive EPG in DVB EPG -> TV EPG Grabber? Are they listed in there and ticked? I remember from last time I was running MP that because of the Sky plugin, you have to be very specific about how MP receives other EPG data.

Yes, I have these things enabled:

DVB EPG: Always try to update existing entries, enable CRC check, EPG grabbing whilst recording/timeshifting, EPG grabbing whilst idle
TV EPG Grabber: Store data only for selected channels, Channel 4 + 1 HD, 4Seven HD, English

If I go to Manual Control and click "Refresh EPG", nothing seems to happen, but then if I check my EPG it's empty.

Also, you are lucky than UNC works for you. My HTPC just doesn't like it in the slightest and just starts to stutter all over the place for no real reason. :(

You might wanna test UNC again in MP 1.8.0. There were some improvements made. :)

My first aim once I get a dev environment up and running is to contribute to compiling the modules - I don't know how far I'll get though.I've never used Github before but use TFS at work and am assuming the principal is the same - get v1.8, get v1.7.1 with the custom data grabber mods, merge them in VS, address any issues, compile and create new branch?

Do you get no Freeview EPG at all?

Correct, no Freeview EPG at all. I just remembered that WebEPG works fine alongside Sky UK Grabber though, so I think I'll just use that for those two channels. It takes ages (like two minutes just for two channels) but it only needs to run once a day so that's fine.
