Hi, I search the forum but didn't find. I would like to know how many recording / watch channels the DD duoflex CT can do at the same time. Some days ago I needed to record 2 channels and wanted to watch another live but couldn't ( No free card message). Maybe it's just normal, but I wanted to know if my settings was rights.
both tuner are mapped with all the channels, and I don't use cam.
regards, Gonzague

If you don't use a cam than it depends over how much transponders these channels are spread.
in theory they should handle all channels on one transponder. One transponder has around 50 Mbit/s a normal Tv channel in SD needs 4 - 7 Mbit/s and HD channels ~15 Mbit/s. You will end up with probably 10 channels on one transponder.

With the DuoFlex you have 2 tuners => you can record all channels on these two muxes (if your HDD cann handle this ;) ).
Now if the two recordings are on different transponders and the third channel is on a third transponder you will get the message: no free card available.

Thanks FreakyJ for the technical answer, I'm new to this sort of things, but is there a easy way to find out which channel are on which transponder.
I get the channels from my ISP/ cable provider if that helps.
Anyway thanks again for the reply

Normally you can find lists on the Internet
There is another way for sure, but I don't know it right now :(
If MP showes you somewhere the frequency in the channel details that would also a way.

For DD it is different. You need for every channel one tuner, even they are on one transponder.

thanks fischy667 and mm1352000. So if I understand it right I can record/watch more than 2 channels at a time, as my channels are not encrypted.
the settings for my channels are: freq: 346000 KHz, modulation: 64 Qam, Symbol rate: 6900 KS/baud. Is this a transponder or what is it?
or as freakyJ said, sometimes I can record only 2 channels and sometimes more. its a little bit tricky if I don't know when I can fx: recorde 2 and watch one live.

"Transponder" is really a satellite term... but yes, I guess you could call this a transponder.
To be clear: for DVB-C, all channels with the same frequency/modulation/symbol-rate combination can be recorded/timeshifted using only one tuner.

Sure, it can be tricky to understand.

For a start, the TV mini-guide shows which channels are available at any given time.
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...diaPortal_Configuration/22_TV/TV_Client#Guide

You can also use the manual control section in TV Server configuration to see how the tuners are used when you record/timeshift certain channels.
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...ion/TV-Server_Configuration/11_Manual_Control

TV Server supports conflict detection for recordings, so TV Server should tell you if you try to configure recordings and you would not have enough tuners.

If you get the "no free cards" message and don't understand why, post your log files so we can check and explain.
