Hi,

I need a decent but not to expensive video card.
For the moment I'm using a TNT2 64, but the TV output is very bad, and it is a bit too slow for MediaPortal.

I saw for instance this one: http://www.tones.be/shop_product.php?idx=100671

Will this card deliver good TV out (standard definition). Does anybody know if it has RGB? Are there cheap cards with RGB?

Other cards the shop has, are:
MSI RX9250-TD128 AGP Radeon 9250 128Mb DDR, TV-out, DVI, Retail €38,00
MSI RX9550SE-TD128 AGP Radeon 9550SE 128Mb DDR, TV-out, DVI €57,00
MSI NX6200AX-TD128 AGP Geforce 6200 128Mb DDR, TV-out, DVI €64,99
ASUS A9250GE TD Radeon 9250GE 256Mb DDR, TV-out, DVI €65,50
ASUS A9550GE/TD Radeon 9550GE 128Mb DDR, TV-out, DVI €68,00
ASUS N6600 TD256 AGP Geforce 6600, 256Mb DDR, TV-out, DVI €128,00
MSI NX6600-VTD256 AGP Geforce 6600, 256Mb DDR, TV-out, Video-in, DVI €135,00

Is the RX9250 of 38 euros sufficient for MediaPortal?

No gaming required, just video recording (have PVR-150) and playback (with decent quality!)

Another problem is that I need a audio card with SPDIF coax out.
Does anybody know a cheap one?

Thanks for the help.

For complete DX9 support, a 9550 is needed (9250 is DX8.1, it will work though, just a bit slower but not noticable on a fast cpu). The 6200 has better tv out support (native composite, svideo, component, dvi out).

I see you have the same CPU and also the PVR-150.
Does the 6200 work nicely with it?
Do all 6200 have component output? (I see you have one)

Yeh works fine. Stay away from the 6x.xx drivers though, as Nvidia has killed component out at the moment.

I cant say for sure, just make sure it says HDTV out.

What do you mean by this? As far as I can tell, Forceware drivers are up to 81.98...

Just FYI, DirectX 9 cards are essential as VMR7 support is being removed.

I am having that card (only difference is 256MB instead of 128).

I am very happy with it. It has a good TV-Out quality. And it has RGB (whereas to be honest it could also be YUV and I cannot tell the difference).

I did prefer this card over a 6600 because it's passively cooled.

    thanks+regards
