Dedicated HTPC required? (1 Viewer)

Hi Everyone,

I am new to HTPC's and mediaportal in general. Sorry if this has been asked before.

Is dedicated HTPC is required to run mediaportal? Or can i run it on my PC that i use from day to day for everything?

What are the downsides to not running a dedicated HTPC?

Hi there and welcome

MediaPortal is just another application for windows. You can run it on any PC that meets the requirements.

If you use the TV-Server and schedule recordings and such you should not turn off the pc manually, but let the power manager handle sleep mode.
