HI, when starting TV (selecting channel or putting just the TV button on), there is a significant delay in starting the TV of sometimes about 1-2 minutes. I do not know what to do, mostly the users consider that MP is frozen, but then after a long while, it returns with the TV. Doesnt matter if fullscreen or normal. in fullscreen there are additional known problems.... (sometimes black screen...) in video mode, the situation is better, it starts more quickly. the computer hardware cannot be the problem, MCE2005, powercinema5, and powerdvd run like a charme. Any idea??? thanks!!

configuration:
newest MP 0.2.2 with newest svn.
Sony-XL-202 with 1 GB RAM, Core 2 Duo, Aver Media Hybrid TV card, and nvidia gt 7600.

    Any idea???

It would be really helpful if you posted your full configuration details (please use the Support Template) and attach your log files that cover the time when you start My TV - that might give us a clue ...

Please read this for more information.

I have moved this thread to the correct section.

    ok, now more data...

hi again. sorry for uncomplete listings, but I hoped that this is an already known behaviour where many people could say: ok this is why... in a second....
    here we go:
b]MediaPortal Version[/b]: MP 0.2.2 original or with SVN 12732, same behaviour with both
MediaPortal Skin: Blue Two wide (unchanged)
Windows Version: XP MCE2005 XP2 with DirectX 9c
CPU Type: Intel Core 2 Duo 6400 2.13 GHz
    HDD: 2 * 250 GB
    Memory: 1 GB
Motherboard: Sony VAIO XL-202, Information about Motherboard n/a
    Motherboard Chipset: n/a
    Motherboard Bios: n/a
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT
Video Card Driver: Video Bios 5.73.22.540.06, Forceware-Version 93.71
memory 256 MB, TV-Encoder typ: Nvidia integrated
Sound Card: SigmaTel High Definition Audio
    Sound Card AC3: n/a
Sound Card Driver: Sigma Tel 5.1051470 v. 2.8.2006
    1. TV Card: AVerMedia Hybrid TV Tuner Card A16C (DVB-T/PAL,SECAM,FM)
    1. TV Card Type: Hybrid
    1. TV Card Driver: 1.0349 11.7.2006
MPEG2 Video Codec: Different available e.g. Cyberlink PowerDVD up to version 7.2 ultra or WinDVD or others. Does not change anything, if I choose different ones.
MPEG2 Audio Codec: see above, Cyberlink PowerDVD 7.2, but changing the codec does not change the behaviour
Satelite/CableTV Provider: Kabel Deutschland or DVB-T
    HTPC Case: Sony- VAIO XL-202
    Cooling: Original Sony VAIO Xl-202
Power Supply: Original from Sony VAIO XL-202
Remote: MCE2005 compatible with Sony Xl-202
TV: Sony LCD Monitor with full hd resolution, HDMI connection
TV - HTPC Connection: see above, only one connection

Again, the problem is that it takes sometimes a very long time to switching on the TV until a picture is shown. Changing channels afterwards is quicker.
However, in the logs attached, you can see another strange behaviour: mostly, switching to full screen mode, I can see only a black screen in TV mode.
    No idea why.

I do not believe that the hardware is the reason, because the system runs smoothly
    - with PowerCinema 5
    - with MCE 2005
    - with PowerDVD 7.2 and WinDVD, even in HD mode watching Blu-Ray disks (no stuttering at all....)

Nevertheless, I like MP very much and would like to move over from MCE to MP, mostly due to the open source structure and the ability to add plug-ins....

Do you see any solution for these problems?? Thanks!!

This looks odd in your MediaPortal.log file:-

2007-01-27 14:29:37.024750 [Info.][6]: DirectShowUtils: found renderer - Default DirectSound Device
2007-01-27 14:30:12.931000 [Info.][6]: DirectShowUtils: Passed removing audio renderer

Notice the 35 second gap between the two entries - this is the source of your startup delay ...

Problem is, what is causing it?

Could you try using the different Audio Renderer options in My TV Setup, to see if that changes the behaviour?

Have you installed any of those "codec packs" which might be causing a conflict?

    hmmh...

hi, thank you for your email. interesting gap...
No, no codec packs or something like this installed. clean new installation, just MCE2005, MP, powerDVD, windvd, and powercinema5.
I tried all different render options available in MP myTV configuration: unfortunately no change in behaviour..........
    Thanks!

I also have the delay problem when starting TV. Till now I only noticed it after a return from standby. It doesn't seems to occur when I restart Mediaportal and enter TV afterwards. I attached a logfile in which is a gap of 21 seconds.

    2007-01-28 12:24:19.687500 [Info.][6]: mpeg2:demux mpeg audio out connected
    2007-01-28 12:24:40.453125 [Info.][6]: mpeg2: mediactl started

The gap is not at the same location as in the log file of ophth1 but I hope that it will be of any help.

    Hi

Have guys disabled the TV-services that automatically starts under MCE2005. It could be interfering with MP initializing your TV-card.

    Cheers
