I use a Symbolic Link to redirect ProgramData\Mediaportal\Thumbs to another parttition. The installer deletes the Thumbs folder for some reason, which means I have to recreate the Symbolic Link after updating.

I also have a Symbolic Link for the Database folder but this isn't deleted and stays intact.

Is there a good reason why the Thumbs folder has to be deleted?

Depends whether you did an update, clean install, etc?

If you did a fresh install, it will have backed it up and moved it, which is expected.

An upgrade will not delete the thumbs folder.

No offence, but if you are going to report a problem, please give us enough information to allow someone to reproduce exactly what you did. You seem to assume that this will be so obvious that there is no need to explain or provide logs (the installer does log stuff).

I did an update. I had to use the two individual deploy packages as the installer wouldn't let me upgrade and only offered Fresh Install. I'll upload logs later (don't have access to the machine at the moment).

Which was because you tried to update from a non-official release.

If you look in the MediaPortal folder in Program Data, do you have a backup folder there containing the Thumbs folder? If so, it did a backup and fresh install.

Yeah it made a backup in Program Data. It doesn't contain the Thumbs folder however (this doesn't seem to be because it was only a Symlink as it does contain an (empty) database folder and that was also just a Symlink).

I don't believe it did a Fresh Install however, as I clearly selected Upgrade when running the deploy packages, it didn't make a backup of the Program Files folder, which still contains the same plugins (some incompatible) as before and the Program Data folder still contains the same files (skins, etc).

Without the logs of the NSIS installer it is impossible to tell what happened.
Also this setup is quite special. In a normal setup, upgrade does not touch the thumbs folder.

    Here's the logs.

What's special about my setup that caused it to delete the thumbs folder?
