Hi everyone,
I did a project like this a long time ago with myHTPC and that worked out well. Since ive forgotten how to work myHTPC and im asuming that the forums are dieing down i figured id jump to MP :)

Anyway the unit will basically just emulate Nes. Snes and in the future PSX and N64. It will also emulate Mame games.

The controllers will be Nes Controllers, Snes controllers (Via parallel Port), N64 and PSX via USB and xbox 360 controllers via USB.

So far ive just been going at it blindly and ive found myEmulators to do the trick for the emulation side. There are a few things i still need help with. I was hoping that i would be able to get descriptions along with images of box art and game play displayed, is there a way to automatically grab these images from a server?

And one thing i havent managed to do is exit the emulator to Media portal using the controller. ATM im just emulating nes using NEStopia. There is no way i know to set multiple gamepad buttons to quit, however if a program exists that monitors the joypad inputs and if a combination was found it would send a keyboard signal (say Alt+Q) that would quit the program.

Id like to contribute by writing a guide for this, and im motivated to do it with MP because a very good looking frontend called maximus arcade is looking pretty sweet but it has a price tag :(.

Thanks
Julius

The other thing i would like help with is refresh rates. As i will be playing NSTC and Pal roms i will need a way to change refresh rates easily. Can emulators do that on the fly?

I'm looking into adding games to my MP install as well right now. MyPrograms does the job but you have to add files manually it seems. MyEmulators also works but not as well or automagically as I'd like it to. If all you're doing is using your machine to play games on, you might try GameEx. Someone suggested launching GameEx from MP using the MyPrograms plugin, in order to play games. Gonna give that a shot.
