I currently have a Leadtek DTV1000S tv tuner that I paid about $30 for. It has worked well besides some pixellation after a while (looks like bad reception) but after stopping the timeshift and starting it again it usually works ok.

I'm looking to build a couple of mediaportal rigs for family members and wonder which tv tuner cards to use? There is quite a price difference between them (from cheap to expensive) and want to know what the real difference is, and whether its worth spending a lot of money or not? The only obvious difference I can see in the more expensive models that my DTV1000s doesn't have is dual tuner capabilities, besides that are there any other advantages to higher end cards for use exclusively in MP? Do they offer better better signal quality in poorer reception areas?

Well the difference I notice between my Peak dual dvb-t and my Hauppauge T500, is the first one works perfectly after standby, the 2nd does not and needs a 25 second delay for it to be re-initialised correctly.

Plus the Peak was less than half the price of the Hauppauge, paying more is not always better.
